15-DAY TOUR OF KENYA-TANZANIA

Visiting: Sheldricks Elephant Centre, Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen Museum, Lake Manyara, Ngongoro Crater, Maasai Village, Serengeti, Grumetti River, Lake Victoria, Balloon Safari, and Olduvai Gorge.

ARRIVAL IN NAIROBI - Rest Day Nairobi Hilton Hotel
Upon arrival in Nairobi, the group will be met by Xavier, a representative of our Kenyan tour operator.

Visas for Kenya on arrival is USD $50pp (cash). Only single entry visa is required.

After clearing customs, exit to the left where we will be waiting in front of the Kenetco taxi office area. FYI there is also a Hilton desk at arrivals.

DAY 03

Sheldricks Elephant Centre/Giraffe Centre/Karen Blixen Museum
After breakfast, Day tour of the Sheldricks Elephant Centre/Giraffe Centre/Karen Blixen Museum. Return back to the Hilton to freshen up & transfer to Carnivore Restaurant for a carnivore feast.

DAY 04

SERENA MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
After breakfast, we will board a private shuttle bus at 0800 hrs from Nairobi to Arusha (Tanzania) where we will clear customs and Immigration formalities at Namanga border.

Visas for Tanzania are US$50pp (cash) and payable on arrival at border town

Yellow fever vaccine and certificate of proof is now a requirement to enter Tanzania. Rules and regulations for each country vary so be advised, that visas, airport taxes, health requirements, etc., can change.

Lunch at African Tulip hotel then drop off at the Serena Mountain Village Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

This evening before dinner there will be a "must attend" pre-safari briefing.

PS: for safety precautions, under no circumstances is anyone allowed to leave the property without consulting with Christine or Xavier.

DAY 05

TANZANIA - LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, pick up from the Mountain Village Lodge at 0830 hrs and proceed to "Lake Manyara National Park" with picnic lunches. Along the way, have two very brief stops at African Souvenir stores before entering Tree Climbing Lionsthe Park for a full day of game viewing. This park is noted for being the home of the tree-climbing lions.
  Lake Manyara Nat’l Park is nestled in the rift valley system a fault line which stretches from Jordan in the Middle East, across the Red Sea and all the way across Africa ending up in Mozambique.
  At sunset, we will proceed to Lake Manyara Serena Safari LodgeSerena Lake Manyara situated at the top of the rift valley for dinner and overnight stay.

NGORONGORO CRATER / MAASAI VILLAGE / SERENGETI
After breakfast at 0730 hrs we proceed along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater en route to The Serengeti National Park - home toMaasai the wildebeest migration noted as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
  Along the way we will visit a Masaai Village where you get to see the famed Masaai people’s way of life. We then enter the Serengeti National Park via Naabi Hill gate (its southern most entrance) where we most likely stop for a picnic lunch, rest and washrooms.
  In the afternoon continue game Mbuzi Mawe Tented Campviewing en route just past the midpoint of the Serengeti, where the low rich grass plains transition to an ecotone zone.

DAY 08

SERENGETI / GRUMETTI RIVER
Early a.m. wake up call for a pre-dawn game run, returning for late breakfast or lunch (depending on whether anything exciting happens with the game).
  In the afternoon, we will head to the Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp in time for dinner. Kirawira is located in the remote western corridor of the Serengeti and the famed Grumetti river, home toWildebeest Migration / Serengeti the giant Nile crocodile and arena of the 'Greatest Wildlife Show on Earth' - the annual migration of over one million wildebeest.

DAY 09

SERENGETI
Early a.m. wakeup call with coffee in bed. It‘s a time to rise and catch the spectacular “African Sunrise” on the game drive returning back to the lodge for late breakfast or lunch followed by some siesta time and R&R by the pool.
  In the late afternoon we head out for an afternoon game drive and back at sunset for dinner.

DAY 10

LAKE VICTORIA / SERENGETI
After breakfast, morning game drive and a visit to Lake Victoria, depending on road and weather conditions, followed by lunch. In the afternoon we proceed to the central part of Serengeti forKirawira Luxury Tented Camp dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge. Game viewing along the way.

  For those doing the balloon safari, there will be a very informative MUST attend briefing before dinner in the Serena lobby with balloon reps covering general info, wakeup call, waiver forms, and any questions you may have. This is considered one of the top 20 things on the bucket list so we wish you well and have a safe flight.

DAY 11

BALLOON SAFARI WITH CHAMPAGNE BREAKFAST

For those not attending on the balloon safari, after breakfast, there will be a morning game drive in the Serengeti. After which, we all meet-up with the high-fliers before returning to the lodge for lunch or picnic lunch.Retima Hippo Pool
  In the late afternoon we’ll visit the Retima Hippo Pool (not to be missed!).   Continue game viewing then return to Serena Lodge for a BUSH DINNER. Note: No open shoes or sandals for bush dinner. Long pants will be required.

DAY 12

SERENGETI - GOL PLAINS
After breakfast, we depart for a morning game viewing in Serengeti en route to the Gol plains with picnic lunches (subject to wildebeest patterns).
  We now enter a very restricted area of the Serengeti known for its wide-open plains & kopjes (rock formations) for which the Serengeti is so famous. Ndutu Safari Lodge
  We will then proceed to Ndutu Safari Lodge for tea followed by an afternoon/evening game viewing in the Ndutu area. It is this area that most of the National Geographic, BBC & TV crews do a lot of their filming.

DAY 13

SERENGETI - NDUTU
Lake Masek Tented CampAfter breakfast, have a full day game viewing in Ndutu followed by lunch. Then proceed to Lake Masek Camp for check- in followed by an late afternoon game drive and back in time for dinner.

DAY 14

NDUTU / OLDUVAI GORGE
After breakfast short AM game viewing in Ndutu area before proceeding to Olduvai Gorge to see the archeological site where the earliest African fossils and descendents of mankind were first discovered by Dr. Leakey. This area is known as the cradle of mankind.
  Ngorongoro CraterAfter a picnic lunch, we drive to the famed Ngorongoro Crater (7th wonder of the world and a world heritage site) & descend into the Crater for an afternoon of game viewing. In the evening we will ascend to the rim of the Crater (approx. up to 8,000 feet aboveSerena Ngorongoro Lodge sea level) for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

DAY 15

ARUSHA / NAIROBI
After breakfast, drive back to Arusha with a quick shopping stopOstrich - Tarangire (if you wish) then lunch at the African Tulip Hotel in Arusha. After lunch (2 pm sharp) we bid our driver/guides farewell and depart on the private shuttle bus back to Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi, Kenya in time for those leaving tonight. Thereafter to the Nairobi Hilton for those overnighting and departing May 29th with late check-out at 7:00 - 7:30pm.

DAY 16

NAIROBI - DEPART FOR HOME
Day rest at the Hilton and late check-out for your flight back home.

Guidelines while on Safari

  • Baggage allowance on safari: 15 kg PER PERSON, soft bags
  • Please observe all park rules, these are posted at each park entry points
  • Do not encourage your guide to drive off track
